Society of University Otolaryngologists (SUO) was formed in the 1960s; its first meeting was in Ann Arbor, MI. The SUO, according to its mission statement, was created to provide for the exchange of ideas and relevant information germane to the practice of medicine in an academic setting. SUO membership is for academic faculty.

Diverse Journeys to Otolaryngology

Members of the AAO-HNS Diversity and Inclusion Committee share their own challenges and personal journeys to otolaryngology including tools and resources for students underrepresented in medicine, successful navigation of the system to match into Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and early Residency experiences.

STAR OTO is a multi-institutional, virtual platform for Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency applicants to share short biographical and academic talks with prospective residency programs. Volunteer faculty members from participating institutions across the country, known as STAR-Mentors, will meet virtually with participants prior to video creation to provide interactive feedback on content. Our goal is to enable applicants to showcase their personalities and clinical/research presentations while networking with leaders in the field from across the country.

The goal of Headmirror.com is to provide otolaryngology residents and interested medical students a centralized high-quality open-access resource for information on specialty and subspecialty choice, tips on a successful match, educational links and resources, as well as dates of important upcoming meetings and events.

Open Access Atlas of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Operative Surgery is a free operative surgery text, and is intended particularly for those surgeons in the developing world who are unable to afford textbooks.
